To understand why sensory testing is carried out and experiment with different types of sensory tests.
To use a word bank and tasting chart to carry out sensory testing.
Starter: Students create a mind map focusing on: ‘Why do we carry out sensory evaluations of foods?’ Answers provided.

Overview of sensory testing - including our senses and their influences and how to carry out a fair sensory test.

These worksheets (x4 sides of A4) focus on the topic Synthetic Fibres - specifically focusing on the Physical and working characteristics of Synthetic Fibres.
Students will be presented with 4 tasks. These include: naming synthetic fibres, identifying and describing their physical and working characteristics, catagorising the fibres using visual images e.g. ski jacket, clothing, swimwear and leggings; and answering exam style questions.

The first worksheet focuses on Mock Questions related to Usability. There are 7 questions (15 marks) in total. Students are provided with space to write their answers. Answers are provided for all of the questions; allowing self-marking time during the lesson.
The second worksheet focuses on Design Considerations. It focuses on Usability and Colour Association. Students are provided with four tasks. The answers are provided for all tasks to allow for self-marking during the lesson. Teacher may consider providing this worksheet to lower years - such as year 8.

Students are tasked with four tasks. Tasks include complete the sentences using the missing words, match, cut and stick the design periods to the designer timeline, analyse two products and match them to their design inspiration and design an outfit inspired by a fashion trend.
7.Students are asked to complete sentences relating to branding and marketing. They are then asked to analyse an example app/app icon branding - along with answering two marketing question. Next students are provided with a well known drinks can and asked to sketch their own word/s using the iconic drink typography. Lastly students are tasked to brand a child’s banking app.

However, can be used for all years - as a bit of fun, recap knowledge or as a stretch and challenge activity for the younger years. What to expect in the exam
Introducing command words - lists the command words found in the food exams- anything from identify to discuss and provides clear definitions.
Example food questions (for section B) and answers focusing on 3 different command words. Once the teacher has shown the model answer, they then have the opportunity to refer to the mark scheme (already included in PPT) for that specific answer. If they then “right click” the answer will appear, but this time highlighting the specific content which meets the mark scheme.

This resource has been designed to help GCSE Food students to answer a long answer question, in preparation for their written exam. It is a total of x8 sides of A4. This resource is a great learning aid throughout the revision period and is suitable for all exam boards studying food.
**What are the students be tasked with - **
Students are introduced to the question, tasking them to - analyse and evaluate a student’s lunchbox against Healthy Eating Guidelines - this question has been broken down, highlighting the key words students need to consider when answering their own question.
Students will then write their own answer to the question.
Using the marking criteria and mark scheme students will self mark their own answer.
Students have been provided with 2 model answers. The first, a low ability answer (awarded 3 marks) and the second, a higher ability answer (12 marks) - they will then read the answers and mark using the marking criteria and mark scheme. They will then provide a mark for each and a comment.
Students are then presented with the model answers, this time showing them fully marked and comments to show improvements. (this time marked by a teacher)
Students find this resource really beneficial, as they can read a model answer of high quality and one with lower marks. They can see where they can pick up marks throughout an answer and the importance of including maximum subject knowledge and the correct use of grammar and spelling.
